Last Friday, Program director Dr. Sung and one of TEEP consultant, Dr. John Yang, visited Jiu Zhen Nan Foods Co., one of the famous brands in traditional Chinese cake and gift market in Taiwan. Located in Daoliao disctict, the company is actually quite easy to reach by taking MRT, getting off at the last stop and walks 5 mins.
Richard Lee, marketing manager said, “this company has been established over 100 years, and it is the classic flavour, insistence on quality, trust from customers, and coherent with food culture that support this brand.” As the second gereration of JIU ZHEN NAN, Richard lived and studied in Canada for many years, and moved back to Kaohsiung to assist his father several years ago. He puts quite a lot of efferts in transforming this old and traditional company into a status that can echo with demands and requests of youth. For example, online membership and ordering is just one of the way to establish connection with young customers.
“We just moved into this new building several months ago, and we have a big video room here open to tourist to watch the video of company introduction, a nice coffee shop to enjoy our products, a cooking lab where tourist can cook the cake made by themselves. We plan to develop this building as a tourism factory to attact more customers.” Richard said.
“What do you expect to achieve by participating in TEEP program?” asked by Dr. Sung. It is curious to know what does a company with products basically serving local customers expect from an international team. “Some foreign tourists like our products very much, especially pineapple cakes, and normally becomes gifts they bring back to share with friends. I expect the TEEP team can help us know more about this market segment. What do foreign tourists want to bring back when they travel in Taiwan? What are the factors that influence their buying behavior? How to promote our products in this segment?” This consulting project definitely is one of the most interesting case in this summer.
