TEEP@ICPT program director Dr. Sung paid the first visit to Quin Line Enterprise yesterday to explore the possibility of its participation in this summer’s program. Quin Link is a professional and ISO 9001-registered conveyor service company including design and manufacturing all kinds of belt conveyor components. Thanks to abundant application experience, continuous improvement of design, Quin Link becomes a leading supplier of high-performance belt cleaning and sealing solution for belt conveyors in Asia.
Due to the sudden pass away of former founder two years ago, the second generation, Mr. Huang, was forced to rush back to take over this family business. Before that, he was educated in Australia and then spent 12 years managing Quin Link’s business in mainland China. “This is a oligopoly business, only two suppliers in Taiwan. In the past, we counted on several big customers, following their expansion footsteps and supplying them with good quality components. My father’s generation established and maintained very good relationship with customers, so the business was quite steady” Mr. Huang said. “Although we won’t discard this business model in local market, we should have risk awareness and think ahead to plan for the future. Exploring overseas markets will be the focus of nest stage. Currently we have only small business in Indonesia, Philippine and Vietnam and we plan to explore more in this area. Besides, US is also another market we expect to penetrate.”
“Speaking local language and quickly adapt to local environment and culture are very critical when exploring overseas markets.” Mr. Huang is a quick learner in this way and he shared a story when he travelled to Indonesia several years ago. He tried to follow local eating habits and used hands to catch food. Then he found everybody just stopped eating and stared at him with astonishing eyes, suddenly he realized that he used the wrong hand. “Although we don’t have foreign workers currently, but I am quite positive to recruit international talents to work for my company if they like the environment. This is also one of the motivations that I would like to participate in TEEP and provide a consulting project.”
